Does the Ubuntu installer actually makes an LVM partition during installation?

I installed Ubuntu in LVM partitioning but and I'm trying to follow this wiki and Whe I try to do pvcreate it gives me this :
sudo pvcreate /dev/sda1
/run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory
WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning.
Device /dev/sda1 not found (or ignored by filtering).

sudo lvmdiskscan -v
       Wiping cache of LVM-capable devices
